I am so saddened that such a beautiful event in a child's life ends up remembered more for the inappropriate behavior (of the parents no less) than for the meaning of the event itself. Even nice clothes cannot cover up poor behaviors. Dressing oneself first and foremost with respect, courtesy, manners, kindness, patience gentleness and self-control will make the loudest statement.Jodihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08420300114606701546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009250236666650148.post-11180721139227921842010-05-05T18:41:29.933-07:002010-05-05T18:41:29.933-07:00Claire - Thank you so much for commenting. It takes the same amount of time to dress appropriately as it done to dress inappropriately. And as for the behavior, I find this to be quite common in all income levels. Have a great evening!Jacqueline Peroshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13074809486227283994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009250236666650148.post-27701105737631657512010-05-05T14:38:07.786-07:002010-05-05T14:38:07.786-07:00Jacquie, you're right to find this kind of beh...Jacquie, you're right to find this kind of behavior shocking. It's just sad that so few parents and young people think that dressing, speaking, and acting appropriately is important anymore. Especially in these environments that are traditionally the most formal. I was astounded to visit the Metropolitan Opera recently and see patrons in ripped jeans and tshirts.

It's tempting to chalk behavior like that up to socioeconomic differences, but surprisingly my experience has shown that those least able to afford nice things are often the ones making the most effort to appear and act respectable.

We need more people out there spreading the message that dressing and acting appropriately is key to being perceived as a successful, respectable person. Keep it up Jacquie!Clairehttp://www.graphicexecutions.comnoreply@blogger.com
